TGI FRIDAYS - Social Media

So here are the last 3 from the series of 5 illustrations I did for a TGI Fridays UK social media promo called '100 works of art for 100 cocktails'.
It was really fun job with a very fast turnaround - 3 and half days for all 5 illustrations from concept to delivery!

Idea by Mr Paul Hill.... inside the card it says:
"Um... we may have overstated the word 'fun''

Skwigly Online Magazine Advent Calendar

Here is an illustration I did for Skwigly Online Magazine's annual advent calendar.
If you have never heard of it and you have an interest in illustration or animation you should check it out. Great articles and podcasts and industry news!
You can see my picture in situ here!

The illustration was inspired by news stories of dodgy, badly put together Santa's grottos that pop up every Christmas around the UK - to the disappointment of many children!

TGI Fridays

Here are a couple of illustration from a series of 5 I did for an online TGI Fridays campaign called '100 cocktails as 100 works of art' with Telegraph Hill. It was quite a free brief, I chose a cocktail from a long list and had to come up with a visual to illustrate its characteristics.

This one has been made into a poster to put on the Ladie's loo doors! Will try and smuggle into the loos and get a picture soon!

RSPB Change from Leah Heming on Vimeo.

A short film made by Seed Animation for the charity RSPB.
I was commissioned to do all the designs and typography on this project.
I used RSPB's corporate colours and a kept a limited colour palette for the design.
You can watch the shortened version here: youtube.com/watch?v=sttiky0dXPc

The Liver Song

A little animation made with Upstart Thunder - she did the animation, I did the designs.
The short features a dancing liver to the voice of the late Graham Chapman who tells us why livers are so important.
Made for 'A Liar's Autobiography Animate Chapman Competition'.  Enjoy!

Bristol Old Vic Poster

A poster I designed for a children's play at the Bristol Old Vic. It got made into flyers, leaflets and program pages!
The original illustration had a purple background (see below) but they decided to change it to a lighter blue to tie into the Christmas period - I think it works nicely!

A Liar's Autobiography - official trailer!

So here is the trailer for the 'A Liar's Autobiography' on which I worked on last autumn.
I art directed the song section of the film with Director Jane Davies from A for Animation - it was soooo much fun!
And I am very chuffed that they used our design as the title image!

Goodbye JSA!

After 6 and a bit years of fun and hard work, I am sad to be leaving Jamaica Street Studios and all my great friends and colleagues. I will miss the views, the gossip, Katie and Kim's Kitchen, the beautiful Tom Plant and all the oddities that Stokes Croft has to offer.
I am not going too far out of my comfort zone though, as I am setting up my new studio down the road in Old Market alongside the kind and talented animators of A Productions.
I will still be freelancing and doing business as normal, the only difference will be heating in the winter and an endless supply of cake! Wahey!

Knitting Hero!

This is an editorial I did a couple of months back for Knit Today magazine.
I was commissioned to design a logo and a superhero character for a knitting competition.
This was a really fun job as I got to design some typography and characters.
I experimented with making brushes on Photoshop and am quite pleased with the textured results.

A Liar's Autobiography crew screening

Wahey! Last night I went with Mr Paul Hill from A for Animation to the
Graham Chapman A Liar's Autobiography crew screening.
Paul was compositor and I was art director and designer
on the 'sit on my face' song section of the stereoscopic 3D animated film!
Sadly Director Jane Davies couldn't make it as she was getting a tan in France...

There were about 300 people and we got
free sweets and popcorn!

I packed some smart shoes to posh for the night
but realised I had brought 2 different right shoes.
I wore them anyway.

Above 'high blood pressure', below 'stop smoking'

Here are some designs I did for the short animations with A Productions for MV Studios which was for the My Health Tips website (with the voice of Terry Jones!!!).
The pile of dead animal meat was later changed to a burger.

A Productions Xmas card!

A little festive commission for A Productions!
Great job to do as I love designing 50's style type
and the greeting card has also come out really
nicely in print - so am quite
pleased with this one.
The copy was written
by Mr Paul Hill!

Filming Driver Dan's Story Train!

Here is a picture of me, queen Suzanne and the rest of the
Driver Dan Story Train crew from A Productions and our fab
mini actors at a film shoot in a green screen studio.
At the end of the story book section of each episode we get kids
to imitate actions that the characters do in the story. We film them
in the green screen studio then composite the footage so that the kids
look like they are playing in the illustrations!
I love going to green screen days, a day out the office, fun times
getting the kids to act out silly things and lots and lots of cake!
